Recently our Eurpoean Director, Mike Mulroy went to see for himself the effects that the Russian invasion of Ukraine has had on the Country and its people and to see how The Rugby Foundation can help.
Our Rugby Supports programme began in 2021 folllowing the devestation created in the wake of Storm Ida. The rugby family is blessed with a tight knit band of teammates, partners, volunteers and often club houses - it is in fact a ready made relief effort. It is this combined effort that the Rugby Supports programme brings together to support people in need.

Mike's first destination was the neighbouring Country of Moldova where he met with Eugeniu Procopi from the Moldovan Rugby Federation. The pair spent a week in and around the capital Chishnau working with the refugees fleeing Ukraine; speaking about their needs, their losses and their hopes for the future.
Part of the support organised during the visit created a weekly outreach project with coaches and players delivering sessions to the children, giving the adults, many of whom are mothers on their own with their children whilst the men stayed behind to fight, some much needed respite.
Our fundraising programme which is still live and you can donate by scanning the QR code or visiting our Go Fund Me page, meant that we were able to direct the aid that was required directly to the refugees in Chishnau. The needs change day by day at the refugee centre, the plan being to provide What the needed, When they needed it, something that still continues with all of your donations.
If you would like to help us to help those still fleeing Ukraine as well as helping them to rebuild their lives and indeed rugby in Ukraine, please donate via our Go Fund Me page.
